OVERVIEW

System 1 Enterprise has the ability to visualize the entire fleet of assets on a map. This provides a quick reference for various user groups to understand the health and priority of assets globally. Drilling down further, HMI views represented by entire plants, areas, machines, trains, etc., are a visual way to identify asset status at a glance. These views use colors and priority KPIs to quickly indicate plants or assets with the highest risk and priority.

project DETAILS

Powell Design was engaged by our Industrial Design partner Intersection to redesign Bently Nevada’s latest version of System 1 as a major transition from a Native desktop Windows Application to a comprehensive Web Application. As part of that effort, we helped to expand the role that System 1 plays within their industrial partner’s technology strategy. System 1 Enterprise will now look across the assets of an entire Enterprise (or Fleet) where the previous version focused only on plant-wide assets. This meant that we needed to really look closely at what System 1 did well (and what customers really liked) to assess how it would scale to the Enterprise level.

scope

  • DISCOVERY

Our kickoff workshop with key stakeholders, ensures clear alignment on project goals and vision. Together, we review existing brand & product materials, map out essential user workflows, analyze the competitive landscape, and brainstorm ideas to set the stage for success.

  • STAKEHOLDER RESEARCH

Understanding the perspectives and objectives of key stakeholders is critical to the success of any project. We conduct in-depth research through interviews, surveys, and workshops to gather insights on their goals, expectations, and challenges. This helps us align the design strategy with business objectives, ensuring that the final product achieves stakeholder buy-in.

  • UI CONCEPTS

UI concepts bring the visual identity of the product to life. We create 2-3 unique concepts that each explore color, typography, iconography, and overall aesthetics to craft interfaces that are not only visually engaging but also aligned with the brand.

  • UI SCREEN DESIGN

After finalizing the visual direction, we design each screen of the user interface focusing on pixel-perfect execution. Every detail, from spacing and typography to buttons and animations, is crafted to enhance the user experience. Our goal is to ensure that each screen is not only visually cohesive but also intuitive and easy to navigate—translating the initial concepts into fully realized, interactive designs that are ready for development.

  • VISION PROTOTYPING

Prototyping transforms static screens into interactive models. This step allows us to simulate user flows, test interactions, and validate the design's functionality. By creating clickable prototypes, we can gather feedback, refine details, and ensure that the user experience is intuitive and seamless.
